Julia Gibran, MSW/RSW
My name is Julia and I am a Social Worker and Educator. I have been working in schools, hospitals, and social service roles for over fifteen years. I use ancient tools like yoga and mindfulness to promote agency and healing within individuals and communities. My lived experience as a survivor makes me relatable and empathetic. I truly believe you have to meet people where they are at.
My studies in yoga began at age 4 alongside my grandfather long before I learned a physical posture. My psychotherapy treatment style was shaped through my Masters of Social Work Indigenous Trauma and Resilience Program at UofT. The program emphasized the importance of culturally informed trauma therapy to build individual and collective resilience. Here, western neuroscience and ancient practices are blended to create a treatment plan considering ALL of you: mental, emotional, physical, and cultural.
In my sessions or workshops, I offer an anti-oppressive, resilience building and body-based session involving tangible tools and daily application. Together, we will creatively weave your personality into a unique therapeutic practice for you.
I also speak at events within community agencies, charities, non-profits, schools, hospitals, spiritual centers, and service organizations. You can contact me to speak or to work with you to co-create trauma-informed and resilience workshops or trainings.
